The Children are so Thankful!
Although this year has been tough, there’s always something to be thankful for!
“O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” Psalms 107:1
“Family is the most important thing.”
—ANTHONY, AGE 16, NEW MEXICO
“This past year, I am thankful for our church and everything that it has done for the home.
“Most of all, I’m very thankful for the prayer needs that God has provided for us. I’m also thankful for family because family is the most important thing in life.”
“I am so thankful for the gift of love and for the time I’ve spent here at Hope.”
— MEGHAN, AGE 16, FLORIDA
“This past year, God has blessed me in so many ways: from moving to the Courtney cottage, to my younger brother getting saved. I’ve seen God’s blessings be poured upon me, but the one thing I am the most thankful for this year, is love.
“Without love, Hope would be very different. Because of love, Hope has shown me that God really does love me. Because of love, Jesus died on the cross and forgave me of my sins. Love is everywhere at Hope; it’s in the cottages, the school, the offices and even in the maintenance. I am so thankful for the gift of love and for the time I’ve spent here at Hope.”
“…there was a big box with a picture of a pool on the front! We couldn’t believe it!”
— CINDY, AGE 1O, HONDURAS
“I am thankful for everything that God has provided for me. I am especially thankful for the pool that was purchased for us! The beginning of the quarantine was the hottest part of the year here in Honduras. We were stuck at home with not much to do.
“One day, we came into the sala (living room), and there was a big box with a picture of a pool on the front! We couldn’t believe it!
“Some of our friends decided that we needed one and surprised us with it! Our favorite time to play in the pool is at night when it’s a little cooler and just the bigger kids get to swim. I am so thankful God provided that pool for us to stay cool and have fun!”
“Thank you for your support of our home!”
—STHEFANY, AGE 14, HONDURAS
“I am thankful for the people that have been a blessing to the home.
“One day a big truck
was pulling onto the
property. It was one of our church members who had a huge box of lichas. If you’ve never seen those before,
they are hairy and scary, but on the inside they are a delicious fruit! Everyone loved them.
“I’m also kind of thankful for the onions that we use every day when we cook. However, I have to say that they can be a little bit painful because they make me cry like a baby when I cut them. But they are delicious!
“Thank you for your support of our home, we are grateful!”
“I’m very thankful that we have so many people willing to help.”
— JENNA, AGE 15, NEW MEXICO
“I’m extremely thankful that we were able to raise the money for a new fence and that the project will be finished soon.
“I am also very thankful that we have so many people willing to help donate food and meet other needs that we have.”
“I thank God every day for the blessings He gives to me”
— CHARISMA, AGE 16, TAMPA
“There are many things I am thankful for, like being at Hope, but there is one thing in particular this year.
“At the end of August, my grandmother was exposed to the coronavirus. When I heard that news, I was really scared! My grandma took a test to see if she had it, and we had to wait a few days for the results.
“While waiting, we were coming home from church one day, and a song was playing on the radio entitled, “Your Ways are Higher than Mine.” This song made me realize that the situation was in God’s hands, and that I just needed to pray and have faith.
“A couple days later, my house parent told me my grandmother tested negative. I was so relieved!
“I am thanking God every day for the blessings He gives to me!”
“It was a blessing that we could get the food we needed for our meals”
— DAVID, AGE 15, HONDURAS
“What I’m thankful for is the people that do deliveries on their motorcycles. We are able to order from grocery stores, pharmacies and other places, and they bring it right to our door on their bike.
“They risk knowing that somebody could have COVID but are willing to do their job and provide the things that we need. We used their service many times when my houseparents weren’t allowed to circulate, and it was a blessing that we could get the food we needed for our meals!
“I’m also thankful for the internet because with it we can do school. The internet helps us do our homework easier and faster and helps us to not be bored sometimes. I am thankful for these things and many others too!”
