Kathya’s Story
When Kathya arrived at Hope's Honduras home, she was 10 years old. She had never been to school.
"When we were with our mom, she couldn't put us in school," Kathya says. "It was really hard for me because I couldn't read or write."
A year later, her brothers and sisters joined her at Hope, and your faithful support kept her family together under one roof.
With patient teachers, a safe home, and friends like you standing behind her, Kathya began to thrive. The girl who once couldn't read her own name kept going. She never gave up.
She Kept Going
In 2024, Kathya graduated from high school. Something that once felt impossible for a girl who arrived at Hope unable to write her own name.
She never gave up. Neither did you.
Today she is commuting to college, studying physical and occupational therapy. She leaves early, takes a taxi and two buses to get there. She still lives on campus so she can stay close to her younger siblings, who remain at Hope.
Family means everything to her. And the younger girls on campus are already watching.
You Believed in Kathya Before She Could Believe in Herself
Rachelle, Hope's Honduras Campus Director, shared something that says it all: "Recently I had a couple of the 13-year-old girls tell me they want to do exactly what Kathya is doing because they look up to her and love her."
That is your gift compounding. Not just in Kathya's life, but in the lives of the girls who watch her come home from class and think: I could do that too.
Kathya wants you to know what your generosity makes possible: "With the help of God and through your support, other children can reach their goal."
You believed in Kathya before she could believe in herself. That made the difference that changed a life.
Another child is waiting for that same chance.
Right now, a child is waiting for a safe place, a family that believes in them, and the chance to hear that their life has worth. Your gift today gives that child a home.
