Jionni’s Answered Prayer

For 18-year-old Jionni, the knowledge that so many friends like you care about him helped to carry him through a stressful time after a medical scare. He shares…
“ I was going to the doctor a few months ago for a normal checkup, and the doctor was checking my heart with a stethoscope.
“ She told me that she thought I had a heart murmur and that I needed to go to the cardiologist to get it checked out.”
You can imagine how worrying such a conversation might be for a young person. So you’ll be proud to hear that his first response was prayer!
Jionni says…
“ Over the next few months, I prayed that it would either go away or that the doctor had misdiagnosed me.
“ Eventually, I went to the cardiologist, and they ran a bunch of tests.
“ They put sticky pads on my chest and took an ultrasound of my chest… Finally, the cardiologist used a stethoscope to listen to my chest.”
Through it all, the knowledge that friends like you care—and are generously making it possible for him to receive such healthcare—was a great encouragement to Jionni.
When the cardiologist gave him the good news that he had little cause for concern, he was flooded with relief and gratitude to God… and for friends like you. It reinforced the power of prayer in his life.
“ I did have a heart murmur. It’s called an innocent heart murmur, and it’s something that a lot of kids are born with and doesn’t affect anything… most of the time it goes away once you get older.
“ That is one of the biggest prayers God has answered for me!”
